About Us

The Community Action Agency Foundation was created in 1981 by members of Community Action Agency Board of Directors as a mechanism to provide additional financial support in the fight against poverty. Today, that partnership has resulted in a shared mission to help people and change lives that has impacted thousands of individuals and families.

Since our inception, the Foundation has provided financial and volunteer support to programs and services provided by the Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department that has a direct effect on helping individuals living in poverty become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life. This support includes:

  • Developing community initiatives that promote community participation in government
  • Providing young people with the tools to advocate for change in their neighborhoods
  • Funding for programs that provide job training and life skills
  • Promote community dialogue on issues that affect individuals and families living in poverty
  • Supporting programs for at-risk youth
  • Funding to enhance or provide services for seniors and children
  • Providing funding for emergency housing assistance
  • Sponsoring community projects to address public health and safety concerns in poor communities
  • Provide books to children in Head Start to promote reading and family bonding
  • Support services to seniors with minor home repairs
  • Provides 16 passenger bus with chair position lift and child seats
